It is finally confirmed that the gold color has reached Apple devices again for a marketing strategy to have a greater impact on the Asian market. Already many years ago, con the arrival of the iPod mini Apple put on sale a model in gold color that it quickly had to stop manufacturing due to its low sales.
Almost ten years later Apple released the first iPhone in gold color, iPhone 5s. The gold color is known to be one of the most popular on the current market, so it was not uncommon to think that it was a strategy to cover more market. Now Tim Cook has confirmed it in the Chinese version of Business Week.
In that interview it is revealed that the decision to create the "gold" versions of their devices has been aimed at satisfying the tastes of the Chinese market. We currently have the iPhone, 12-inch MacBook, iPad or Apple Watch in gold.
It must be taken into account that China is Apple's second largest market and as data we can tell you that in the March quarter it accounted for 29% of Cupertino's revenues. Tim Cook has added that they will continue in that line since this fashion is currently being implemented in other manufacturers.
We will see if with the passage of time this color extends to the rest of Apple devices. For now, it seems that they focus more on lighter mobile and portable devices than on the rest of the company's computers.
