We do not know if Apple has finally solved the manufacturing problems or if it wants to get rid of all the stock that it may have of this model before a possible renewal.
With less than a year in the market, it is unlikely that Apple will renew the Airpods in September, but previously we saw a silly movement when the guys from Cupertino launched the iPad 3 for a few months after launching the iPad 4, in a move that made the company look very bad, especially with all those users who had purchased the iPad 3 shortly after launch believing that its renewal cycle would be higher than it finally was.
