If you have updated to Yosemite you will have found that the "iOSization" of OS X is even more present, one of the clearest exponents being the new web address bar in which we are only shown the domain of the web that we are visiting, but the rest of the URL is omitted. This is something that simplifies things and is comfortable for many people, but some of us prefer to know the URL we are visiting, so let's see how it is retrieved.
Simple trick
To return to having the complete URL in the address bar, simply open Safari, display the preferences (in the menu bar or with the CMD + command,) and then go to the Advanced tab, where the option «Field of smart search: Show full website address ». We activate it, of course, and after that it is time to verify in the Safari window that we see the complete URL. In the case of this article it would previously show «Soydemac.com” and now a much longer address.
Once we have done it we will have the field showing the url as usual. Taking advantage of the trip we can also adjust the option to "Stop modules to save energy", something that is very useful if we use the Mac with battery but if we are connected to the electrical network it may bother us for a complete web browsing. Perhaps in this case, an option is missing a bit in which that option is automatically activated under battery operation.
