Trick: skip the trash can lock

I do not know if it has happened to you that you have ever gone to empty the trash and have been told for no apparent reason that an item was in use, with the consequent desperation that it entails.

To solve it in a 'beast' but effective way we have these three steps:

  1. Make a secure delete of the trash with the Finder.
  2. If the error persists, open Activity Monitor and kill the Locum process.
  3. Empty the bin.

Locum is a process that seems to contain a temporary cache that prevents deletion when it should allow it, so closing it removes the problem.

You open terminal and write: "rm -r xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" where xxxxxxxxx is the file in question to delete (if you drag it to the terminal window it will be easier for you, do not place the quotes) then press enter.

If the file could not be deleted because it is from the system or something like that, put "sudo rm -r xxxxxx" where the xxxxx is as before and it will ask you for the admin password of the computer.

Another way to skip the emptying the trash question is to press "option" (alt) while emptying the trash.
And another method to "always" is to go to the desktop, Finder menu, Preferences, Advanced and Deactivate the box of "Show notice before emptying the Trash" in this same place we can activate for "always" the option of "Empty the Trash. safe way".

    Greetings.
