Tricks to maximize the battery life of your MacBook

Tips

If you plan to make a very long flight or need for any reason to have one extreme battery life on your MacBook, then you may be making some mistakes that are taking your battery's mAh flying. It is a matter of common sense when planning use, but it is understandable that we miss some details.

In my experience on long flights and extended sessions, the seven basic points to control to maximize the battery of a Macbook are the following:

  1. If wireless connections will not be used, immediately disable WiFi and Bluetooth.
  2. Lower the brightness of the screen to the minimum with which we are comfortable working.
  3. If it is not needed for any specific reason, it is best to disable the keyboard lighting.
  4. Disconnect external hard drives, SD cards, or other power-consuming peripherals.
  5. Completely close (CMD + Q) all the apps that we are not going to use.
  6. Pay special attention to apps like Dropbox, Google Drive or Little Snitch that are only in the menu bar. If we do not use them, it is better to close.
  7. Use headphones if we need audio instead of Mac speakers.

With these seven guidelines we will get the battery lasts much longer than before, and Although it is true that we may not be able to apply all the advice depending on what situations, the reality is that sometimes some details are passed over us and a simple application can take 10% of our battery when we do not need it.

Why maximize consumption? In any case, maximize the duration of the battery or minimize consumption.
