Up to 8 Unknown AMD Radeon Graphics Appear in MacOS Catalina Second Beta

It may be due to new Mac models that will be presented in the coming months or to the multiple configurations of the next Mac Pro. Either way, in the second beta of macOS Catalina they have found up to 8 Unknown AMD Radeon Graphics. The names that appear in the beta begin with "RX" and "Pro". In most we find the known surname of Radeon "Vega 20".

The first AMD Radeon appeared in the MacBook Pro introduced in December 2018, after the macOS Mojave update, to support this graphics. It is one more bet by Apple for graphic environments.

We know the news thanks to the developer Steve moser, who has published the discovery on his Twitter account. The graphics are mostly part of the family Radeon RX Vega 20, adding different versions. In two of them the term RX is replaced by the term "Pro". Until now we are not aware of the existence of these graphs. At the moment everything seems to indicate that they are trade names. The models may be in development and to date will only have to prototypes and estimated benefits.

The variations on the RX charts are, for Vega 20: GL XT WKS, GL XT Server, XTA, XLA and XTX. We do not know the meaning of these acronyms. The safest thing is that they are intended as the complementary graphics for each of the processors, both from Intel, and from ARM in its case. Probably the company will offer certain details of these graphs in the coming weeks, to see their exit the market from the last quarter year.

Nor do we know more characteristics of the graphs. In some forum there is talk of the renewal of the RX5700 series designed in 7nm and up to 10 and 14 teraflops. In any case, we expect major performance improvements in the graphics market, in part because of the significant boost that Apple is definitively offering to the professional sector, with the arrival of the powerful MacBook Pro, the iMac Pro and the next Mac.
