USB 3.2 with speeds up to 20Gbps is ready, and we'll see it in use before the end of the year

Mac mini ports

Back in 2017, we could see how the new USB 3.2 standard appeared, which promised much faster connections, but nevertheless we have not been able to see much in use, something that is quite confusing for some, but nevertheless it seems that now they have finally decided to solve it.

And it is that, apparently, recently the USB Implementers Forum (better known as USB-IF), has officially confirmed at the Mobile World Congress that everything is already prepared, and that therefore We will see the first computers working with USB 3.2 technology during this same 2019, something that will probably make many happy.

The USB 3.2 will officially arrive during this 2019

As we have been able to know, it seems that USB 3.2 is already ready to be implemented, because apparently During the next few weeks the different necessary drivers will be published for manufacturers to implement it in their equipment, which is why the first motherboards incorporating this technology should begin to arrive soon, and for what by the end of 2019 we should be able to see the first teams incorporate this.

In addition, we can also see that there are three different versions to be adopted by manufacturers in order to adapt to the needs of all users, being from the cheapest to the most expensive:

  • USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps SuperSpeed)
  • USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps SuperSpeed +)
  • USB 3.2 Gen2x2 (2x10Gbps SuperSpeed +)

MacBook Air

In this way, as you may have seen, the fact that we will be able to have up to speeds of 20 Gbps, which can be quite useful for many people when, for example, transmitting data or large files to compatible external media.

Now, the biggest problem in all this may be in the accessories and peripherals themselves, because apparently the first compatible with this technology would not arrive until next year 2020, in addition to the fact that, for example, 20 Gbps are quite relative, in the sense that it will vary between manufacturers and peripherals, this being the maximum, something that is also important to take into account.
