Surely very few of you make use of the Mac calculator to perform any type of operation. We took less time to unlock our iPhone and from the control center launch the calculator that by looking at the lanchpad or go to the notification center and launch it from there.
But it is calculated by our Mac, that great forgotten not only allows us to add, subtract, multiply and divide, but also has a scientific and programming calculator. But it also helps us when it comes to converting units of length, weight, currency, power, pressure, temperature, speed, volume ... functions that we cannot do with the native iOS calculator.
Thanks to these extra unit conversion functions, we will no longer have to use third-party applications, although many of them are free too we can find some more complete ones that are paid and that the calculator that comes installed natively in OS X perform the same functions. This application does a more than decent job and we don't need to miss other types of calculators available on the Mac App Store.
Convert units with the Calculator application on Mac
First of all, we must bear in mind that this function can only be used by opening the application, it is not available from the notification center. Once we have opened the application we write the number we want to convert.
Next we go to the top menu and click on the Convert option. Now we have to select the unit we want to convert to. For the example we are going to convert 1000 meters to miles.
As you can see it is a quick and easy process. Thanks to the OS X Calculator, we can convert units of area, energy or work, time, length, currency, weights and masses, power, pressure, temperature, speed and volume, all without using third-party applications.
