Use your multimedia keys only with iTunes or Spotify, in macOS High Sierra

Any operating system brings many improvements, but in some cases we lose some function. These functions are usually recovered in subsequent versions, but in all cases. If we add that this feature we use almost daily, it may happen that we lose productivity. Since the release of macOS High Sierra, the behavior of the multimedia keys of our Mac has changed behavior. Now, the keys follow the application that we have activated in the taskbar (in the upper left). Well today, we know the application High Sierra Medium Key Enabler that allows us to change this behavior.

The application is free and can be Download on the developer page. This is especially useful for those users, where they play content from iTunes more or less constantly. Playing a received video, the content of a web or an iMessage, becomes an unproductive task. In that case, you must put the current task aside, go to iTunes, stop or lower the playback of that moment and return to the melody in question. To many, this seemed like a macOS High Sierra bug, but it was not resolved in the recent 10.13.1 update. and we do not know if we will see the possibility of configuring this parameter in later versions. The developer tells us the reasons for making the application:

Changed the behavior of the multimedia controller keys. They no longer control iTunes, they control video playback in Safari. This bothered a lot of people including myself, so I just created a menu bar app that handles iTunes / Spotify only, while Apple fixes this. It does not yet support Touch Bar, only physical buttons.

ITunes bug

The application is developed by Milan toth. It is very easy to use and aims primarily to block media keys in iTunes or Spotify. Therefore, common tasks such as opening a video on YouTube or a received message, will not prevent the keys from reacting solely and exclusively with the previous programs.
