VMware Fusion 12 now available with macOS Big Sur support

VMwareFusion 12

When installing Windows and / or running Windows applications on a Mac (in addition to other operating systems) we have at our disposal a large number of options, being VMware in one of the most widely used worldwide due to its great versatility and functionalities that it offers us

Although we still do not know what the release date of the final version of macOS Big Sur will be, the guys at VMWare have just released the version VMware Fusion 12, a version that is 100% compatible with macOS Big Sur, a version that is free for all users who make use of the application on a personal level.

VMware Fusion 12 is not a simple update compatible with macOS Big Sur but also offers us a large number of new functionalities such as support for external graphics, an ideal functionality for those users who need a little more power for their Macs.

VMware Fusion 12 Key New Features

  • Support for USB 3.1 devices
  • Rendering engine in Sandbox
  • Accessibility options improvements
  • Supports for eGPU
  • Compatible with both Host and Guest accounts.
  • DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.1 compatible

A little over a month ago, the application VMware stopped working on all machines managed by the latest macOS Catalina update, an update that I can see from the VMware team, caused the application to crash unexpectedly, passing the ball to the Apple roof. A couple of weeks later, Apple launched aSupplemental update to solve this problem.

Hopefully the rush that VMware has had to launch the final version compatible with macOS Big Sur will not shock again with any modifications that Apple may make with the release of the final version of Big Sur, an update that should arrive in mid-October.

The problem is that every time they release a new version of VMWARE Fusion, they don't make it compatible with OS X updates. As long as they don't make VMWARE Fusion 11 compatible, I can't update to OS X Big Sur. Year after year the same situation, at the beginning I paid for the update, but I never felt that it was necessary. Necessary until you only realize that it is used to make it compatible with OS X. The business model is terrible!
