Since the launch of Apple Pay, there have been many companies that have not wanted to adopt this electronic payment technology and are instead creating their own services. The American giant Walmart has just announced that its Walmart Pay payment solution is nowis available in 19 more states including Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.

Last month the firm launched its service in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington. DC. Walmart Pay debuted in the states of Arkansas and Texas last May.

The Walmart Pay application works through an application that we can download for any device, whether iOS or Android, and it works with most credit, debit, prepaid and Walmart gift cards. Like other payment solutions, which compete with Apple Pay, the operation is based on some QR codes that we have to scan through the Walmart Pay application and opening the camera to scan it.

The system will make the payment once the QR code is scarce without the need to show any type of identification, as it happens with Apple Pay. Once the payment has been completed, an electronic receipt is automatically sent to the Walmart Pay application. Currently Walmart Pay is available in more than 5.000 stores in 37 states. Walmart will complete the expansion in the rest of the 52 states before the end of the year.

Walmart was part of the MCX consortium that is working on in CurrentC another form of payment alternative to Apple Pay and whose operation is very similar to Walmart Pay. Walmart abandoned this platform by observing the continuous delays in launching this service.
