Since the launch of Apple Pay the giant Walmart has always resisted adopting this technology that works through NFC chips. Since the launch of Apple Pay, Walmart has ensured that it was working on a new payment system of its own, to make it easier for the user to pay for the products they buy in the different establishments that it has throughout the country.
Walmart just introduced Walmart Pay, a payment system that works using QR codes, so it is only necessary to download the application on our Android or iOS smartphone and take a photo of the QR code that the establishment's cash register shows us.
The main advantage of this form of payment is that does not require any device with the NFC chip to make purchases. According to the CEO of Walmart's e-Commerce division:
To try to improve the way in which users of our establishments make purchases, Walmart has launched Walmart Pay, which allows us, through the application, to make payments through our credit card, debit card, prepaid cards or using the company's prepaid cards.
El operation of the application is very simple. When we go to make a payment at one of the Walmart establishments, we have to launch the application, select Walmart Pay and take a photograph of the QR code that the store's device will show us. Then the payment will be made automatically without having to show any type of accreditation, as it happens with Apple Pay.
All this seems very nice, but the main reason that has originated this application is being able to centralize all digital payments in one place, without having to use third-party services.
