watchOS 7.4 in its Release Candidate version now available

watchOS 7.4 Release Candidate

During Apple's special "Spring loaded" event today, the company finally revealed that watchOS 7.4 will be available to all users "early next week. The long-awaited update brings an important feature to users, which is the ability to unlock models of iPhone with Face ID using Apple Watch when they wear a mask.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, several iPhone users complained that Face ID does not work with a mask on. This forces you to enter your lock screen passcode multiple times throughout the day. However, iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4 solve this problem. With an option that the Apple Watch uses to replace Face ID and authenticate the user.

Once you enable the feature, your iPhone will unlock automatically with Apple Watch the next time you wear a mask. What in Spain is mandatory at all times.

When the iPhone is unlocked, you get a haptic notification on the Apple Watch telling you that your iPhone was unlocked by the Apple Watch. There is also the option to quickly lock the iPhone directly from that Apple Watch notification.

Although the update is not available to the public, developers and users who were already running the beta version of watchOS 7.4 can now update to the build release candidate. Presumably this will be the build that will be available to all users later this week.

Make sure to update your iPhone to iOS 14.5 Release Candidate first, then you should see the watchOS 7.4 Release Candidate appear on the iPhone in the Watch app> General> software update.

We already know what we always say with these versions. Make sure you have a backup. Keep in mind that it may have bugs because it is not a final version although it is very close to it.
