JOSE ALFOCEA: In the App Store there are already applications for listening to podcasts. Without going any further we have Apple Podcasts, Overcast, iVoox, Spreaker, why is a new podcast App necessary?

JUANJO GUEVARA: When I started the project uCast I did it for two reasons, first to continue developing and improving my facet as an application developer and designer, and because as a podcast consumer I did not feel comfortable with any of the applications that currently existed, in all of them I found something for which I did not They were convincing, or they were excessively complicated, or too simple or they did not have a design that I would like, that is why I started to work to create an app that was capable of improving all these aspects.

JA: What does the chosen name respond to: uCast?

JG: Well, it is something quite fortuitous and I owe it to my son who is 18 months old. One day I tried to get him to say Podcast and what I got was a "UuuuCasss" and hence the name, maybe not the best but I like to have that little wink to my son.

JA: What are we going to find in uCast that we don't have in other podcast apps?

JG: The first a very careful design and usability, that was one of the main premises of the project, I have tried that anyone who enters an app of this type for the first time can easily start listening to a podcast, hence the idea of the upper banner in the podcast list; On the other hand, an app that can satisfy both laymen in this podcast as well as more advanced users and finally, it is an app that will grow based on the opinions and ideas of the users to whom I want to give great prominence as It is they who during this beta phase have contributed a lot to how the app is today.

JA: At Applelizados we are testing uCast. We know that it is still in the development phase but we still miss some features that could be very interesting. The main one would be that the user can create playlists of their favorite podcasts. Will you implement this feature?

JG: Of course, we are with this right now and we believe that the app should have this option, it is practically what we need to be able to go on the market

JA: What other news are on the way when uCast be released on the App Store?

JG: Apart from what I have already mentioned about the playlists, we are working on a more social component so that we can offer users more curated content and special rankings. We have recently included some improvements such as chapters in episodes thanks to the insistence of some users and why not say it, podcasters.

JA: Will we have an optimized version for iPad?

JG: There will be, what I can not confirm is if it will be ready for the release of V 1.0 or will be later. On the roadmap of uCast We have planned many more things such as App for Apple Watch, Apple TV and why not say it, Android and support for Chromecast as well.

JA: And now we go with what we are all waiting for, when will it be uCast available to all users in the App Store and what will its price be?

JG: We hope that it won't take us long to be in the Store, the idea is to leave for approximately a month if we manage to comply with the Roadmap that we have planned but there is still work to do and not only at the programming level. The price of the application will be € 1.99 during the first weeks of launch, after this the price will be € 2.99

You can follow the evolution of uCast and be aware of all the news through your profile on Twitter where Juanjo always attends and answers all the doubts and suggestions of the users.
