We tested the Logitech T651 multi-touch trackpad for Mac

Logitech Trackpad

When we talk about a multi-touch trackpad for Mac, Apple's is the first that comes to mind, although there are other options.

One of these alternatives is the Logitech T651 It offers some advantages and disadvantages compared to the one in Cupertino and, as we have been able to prove it, we are going to tell you about them after the jump.

Quality and generous dimensions for gestures

Logitech is synonymous with quality and this multi-touch trackpad couldn't prove otherwise. Since we took it out of its box, the accessory denotes a very clean design, highlighting in particular the enormous surface on which we can perform gestures with all the fingers of the hand without space problems.

The touch when sliding our finger on the surface of the trackpad is fantastic. This has been achieved thanks tothe use of glass as a material, the same one that Apple uses in its trackpads.

To link the Logitech trackpad to our Mac you have to follow several steps. The first one is to run the Bluetooth connectivity wizard and press the button that we will find at the bottom of the T651. Automatically, the computer will recognize it and it will be linked for immediate use.

However, Installing Logitech software becomes a prerequisite if we want to enjoy multi-touch gestures and the vision of the remaining level of autonomy that the battery has left.

Once the program is installed, from the Settings menu we can configure all the parameters to customize the Logitech trackpad to your liking.

When everything is set up, the operation of the trackpad will be flawless in all kinds of situations.

It should be noted that for this product it also has a physical click mechanism. Unlike Apple's, this physical click is integrated into the two lower rubbers that prevent the trackpad from sliding on the table. When pressed on the surface, these two rubbers sink slightly and produce the sensation of pressing a button.

Given the dimensions of the trackpad, as we increase the height of the finger, more complicated it becomes to apply pressure. Something similar also happens in Apple, but to a lesser extent.

In his favor, the T651 offers an internal battery that we can recharge using a microUSB cable. So we forget about having to use batteries (like the Apple trackpad) and we can continue to use the accessory while it recharges.

The recommended price of the Logitech T651 trackpad is 69 euros, two less than Apple's. Deciding on one or the other will depend on our preferences since both are equal in quality.
