Cannon Lake 10nm processors we won't see until late 2019

Intel just communicated a new delay in the market launch of the brand's processors. We are talking about psuper powerful friction processors with new 10nm technology. These processors they are used in the next iMacs and MacBook Pro, but apparently we won't see them until the end of 2019.

During last week's QXNUMX earnings call, executives confirmed that chips with 10nm technology. are on their way, to move to desktop and laptop manufacturers, in the second half of 2019. Everything seems that the next Macs we will have at the end of 2019.

CNBC reported that the CEO Bob Swan initially gave the delivery date the 2019 holiday period. In any case, with this type of component so relevant in any team, it is advisable not to rush when it comes to market.

Still, the Cannon Lakes have been delayed several times. In the words of former CEO Brian Kzanich, In the April results presentation, there were problems with the production of the 10nm chips. Either way, Intel has chosen to have a fully tested product before starting serial production.

Even so, today it has a small sample of 10 nm Cannon Lake chips, but it does not have sufficient quantities for its commercialization and neither does it have a high variety to cover much of the needs that the market requires. An example of this is the Core i3-8121U which is a 2.2 Ghz dual core chip, which is capable of reaching 3.2 Ghz. in Turbo Boost mode, with a 15 watt consumption (TDP), thought of notebooks.

When they go on the market, predictably They will have support for LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X, memories equivalent to the current ones of the MacBook Pro DDR4, but with less power demand. In addition, this change continues with the possibility of mounting 16 GB of RAM and surely we will find an improvement of autonomy in the battery of portable equipment.
