New Macbook Pro and iMac with M3 processor

Apple M3 processor

Tim Cook said "Good evening" for the first time at an Apple presentation. And he did it to present us the new range of Apple Silicon M3 processors.

It was 1 in the morning (Spanish time), already on October 31, and began the «Scary Fast» event which promised the presentation of the evolution of Apple processors.

As usual, we were shown the benefits of working with Mac in various fields and then Apple engineers began to tell us the approaches they take to get the most out of their processors but without compromising energy efficiency.

Not that the event was a big deal, since It didn't even last 30 minutes., but all the presentations that were made were done at a brutal pace, "Tremendously fast."

It is clear that Apple has once again put itself ahead in the race for the most powerful and efficient processors on the market. The results of the M3 range of processors demonstrate this.

M3 processor, brutal power in 3 nanometers

And it did not disappoint. The M3s were presented, the basic M3, the M3 Pro and the M3 Max. All three at the same time. All of them built with 3 nanometer architecture, continuing the path followed with the A17 Pro processor of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

Apple not only presented an evolution in the composition architecture of the processor but, as usual, gave a twist to gain energy consumption and power. Dynamic Catching is the system that allows you to optimize memory to offer performance without crashes and in real time, and it does it automatically.

In this way these “Outrageously fast” results are achieved, the Rendering is 1,8 times faster than the M2 and up to 2,5 times faster than the M1. In addition, this new generation is capable of offering the same processing threads as the M1 using half the energy.

As for Neural Engine, performance is a 60% faster than the M1, and the new M3 are up to 30% faster than the first generation and 15% faster than the second generation. There is no doubt about the jump in power that leaves behind the competition that thought it had surpassed the M2.

New MacBook Pro with M3 processor

As expected, the new generation of M3 processors is accompanied by new very powerful machines made for Apple's most demanding audience, those who need a tool with brutal capacity to design, create or edit.

The 14-inch Macbook Pro is the first to receive the base M3 processor model with a starting price of €2.029. It can also be configured with the M3 Pro or M3 Max, with different CPU and GPU cores. The 16-inch model can be configured with M3 Pro or M3 Max up to a maximum of 128GB of RAM, with 16 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores. A nonsense of power and price.

We had already seen the 128 GB of RAM implemented in the M1 Ultra of the Mac Studio. Now having the possibility of being compatible with a simultaneous connection with up to 3 external monitors.

All the power deployed by the M3 processors does not reduce their energy performance, offering us the entire range autonomy of up to 22 hours of battery, enough as «to work all day or all night«.

But there is one more detail. A new exclusive color is added for the models that come with the M3 Pro and M3 Max. It's about the Space Black shade, which looks quite nice. To this color we must add the classic Silver and Space Gray.

renewed iMac

Apple was already taking a while to renew one of its flagships. The best-selling “all in one” in the world. And how could it not be otherwise, The iMac also receives a renovation but only in power, mounting the M3 processor. Inside and out, it remains the same model with the new redesign presented in 2021. Perhaps we continue to hope that in the era of video calls and video conferencing, the camera of the most iconic Mac of all will not be a 1080p one, but one of the jump to 2K or 4K.

But there is no evil that does not come with good, The new iMac will only have the basic M3 processor but at the same price as when it had the M1 processor, which is a joy, and for home and office use it is more than enough. The iMac has jumped from mounting the M1 to the M3 processor, a sign that Apple does not need to renew its product range annually so as not to saturate the market or buyers.

Conclusion

Apple continues to renew its flagship lines with the next step in its linear evolution towards more powerful and efficient processors. Always giving a twist, trying not only to build more powerful processors given the evolution of current technology and nanometric architecture systems, but also optimizing any process that can benefit both the CPU and the GPU.

Its Apple Silicon processors are already a benchmark in the industry. Its M3 processor is nothing more than the culmination of a line that Apple crossed 4 years ago, which is to manufacture its components themselves without depending on anyone, and all of them optimized for their devices, thus achieving the perfect combination.

Again, We have witnessed the renewal of the Macbook Pro and iMac ranges, with the latest in power aimed at each audience segment. The basic M3 processor range that will be implemented in all computers, not only the iMac and the Macbook Pro, but the Macbook Air, Mac Mini and iPad Pro, for the vast majority of users, which more than cover any need.

Then the range of M3 Pro and M3 Ultra processors, focused on professional users who need great processing performance, complete the line, and will be safely installed in the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, as well as in the Macbook Pro.

The 13″ MacBook Pro with TouchBar are already discontinued, right?
They no longer appear on the official Apple site

The 13″ Macbook Pro with TouchBar are relegated to oblivion. The Macbook line is already established at 14″ and 16″.
