Production of the 2013 Mac Pro was delayed due to lack of screws in the US.

That Asian countries have become the factory of half the world, is a reality that few are surprised at this point. In this sense, today we have heard curious news about the construction of the Mac Pro 2013. According to the newspaper The New York Times, the last Mac Pro model to hit the market in 2013, was delayed as there were no US vendors to supply certain screws for the team.

If we take into account the shape of the 2013 Mac Pro, known colloquially as "the trash can" we understand that it can use certain unique components.

The reality was that Apple had to turn to suppliers from China, to finish assembling a team built entirely in the USA. The only supplier in Apple's home country, it could commit to delivering 1000 screws a day. This amount committed the company to a funnel in the production process. Only one company could compromise in number, but these screws did not have exactly the specifications that Apple required. Up to 22 screw orders were served, but this it was not a definitive solution, because sometimes the manager had to transport the screws in his private car.

Apple searched for months before giving the jump to Asian suppliers. If this happens to you perhaps with the model with fewer units sold (due to the Pro specifications and its cost), it is practically unthinkable that you can mass-manufacture other models, whose sales figure multiplies exponentially, such as a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro Also, if in the equation we include the US manufacturing cost. or Asian countries, makes the manufacture of most of the models necessarily have to be carried out in the USA.

This news is published in the middle of the trade war between the US and China, which opens the debate on the manufacture of products inside or outside the US. Meanwhile, Apple is looking for factories to manufacture in India and Vietnam for mass production. At the moment it is all secrecy in relation to the replacement for the 2013 Mac Pro. Apple confirmed that it works on Pro computers, but so far we only have the iMac Pro, which will soon be two years old.
