When the USB C connector arrived on Macs, the options of the mythical connector that most Mac users liked, with this universal connector it is true that many things have been gained but in this sense some of us continue with the hope Apple adds a magnetic option to the charging connector of their teams.

As always, it is important to remember that these patents can reach the equipment or they can stay on the road simply to have an option to earn money without having to do anything (when another company launches something similar this patent will grant rights to Apple) so we do not have any illusions about this issue. On the other hand, it is important for Apple to work on these types of solutions for its Macs since it would be very useful to have this type of magnetic connector that it offers one more point of security to the equipment if we unintentionally stretch the cable.
The patent itself explains the operation of a magnetic connector system, so it is obviously something very similar to what we had with the legendary MagSafe. Apple warns in its computers that have the USB C connector that we can cause physical damage to our equipment or to the charging connector itself if we stretch the cable directly, so this would be a great solution to avoid these accidents that can be more common than what many of us think. Definitely it would be perfect if Apple released a magnetic USB C in no time for your equipment with this port, but time will tell us this.
Nowadays some third-party brand options exist to convert these USB C into MagSafe, but it is an extra expense and obviously it would be much better if Apple adds it to its original equipment, be it the iPad or the Mac that use this type of connectors.
