Alexander Siddig expands cast of Shantaram rebooting in May

The new Shantaram series is already an old acquaintance of Apple TV +. It has been among his objectives for a while now. However, it was not until now that production began to restart after a hiatus in February last year. Now it so happens that things are going from strength to strength and it seems that there is no turning back. The production of the series is going from strength to strength, which will star Alexander Siddig, actor who has appeared among others in Game of Thrones.

According to the newspaper Deadline  Alexander siddig will accompany Charlie Hunnam as protagonists of the new Apple TV + series that will have as its title, Shantaram, the same as the book on which it is based written by Gregory David Roberts and which is described as an exploration of love, forgiveness and courage on the long road to redemption .. Shantaram tells the story of Lin (Hunnam), a man fleeing from an Australian prison who seeks to get lost in the city of Bombay. Isolated from family and friends by distance and fate, he finds a new life in the slums, bars, and underworld of India. Siddig will play Khader Khan, Bombay's revered underworld kingpin who acts as Lin's surrogate father.

Written and produced by Steven Lightfoot, who also serves as a showrunner. Richard Sharkey, Bharat Nalluri, will direct six episodes, Steve Golin, Nicole Clemens, Andrea Barron, Justin Kurzel and Eric Singer also collaborate in the production of the series.

The series, which previously shot two episodes before pausing filming at the end of February 2020, logically due to pandemic issues among others, is preparing to restart production in May on the remaining 10 episodes, therefore a total of 12 episodes with which the first season will consist.
