The information that some of the thousands of Apple employees have is no small thing and some engineers could get to profit in a totally unfair way with the information they have. This case is that of an engineer from the well-known and long-awaited Project Titan. After several colleagues saw him take photos in a prohibited place, the company took action on the matter and it seems that now he's detained by the FBI.
Stealing confidential information from Apple to sell or share it with other companies in China, is the reason why Jizhong Chen, an Apple engineer, was investigated by Apple and then reported to the authorities for storing confidential content to share with other companies.
Do not play with intellectual property
And it is that from Apple and after the corresponding internal investigation of Apple it was possible to verify that in Chen's computer, protected content was stored and this was denounced by Apple so that this engineer was arrested. The rules are to be met and obviously "in this game" the Cupertino company has a lot to lose if research and development jobs that are protected are leaked, so all employees have signed confidentiality agreements that in the event of being broken can lead to many problems.
It is not the first case that occurs in Apple in this sense and last summer another employee carried out a similar operation in the same Project Titan, with the consequent dismissal and others. Filtering or selling information is something that goes through the head of any employees or engineers who have access to the confidential information of the projects, but luckily they are isolated cases and work in a company like Apple with the number of large projects they have in hand now and in the future will always be better than leaking information and seeing you out of the company and arrested.
