Apple releases second beta of macOS Catalina 10.15 for developers

macos catalina

A few minutes ago Apple launched the second beta of macOS Catalina 10.15 for developers. It has been exactly two weeks since the presentation of macOS Catalina at WWDC 2019. At the moment we have no news regarding the previous presentation and the beta focuses on the elimination of the first errors detected by developers.

Still, those who have tested the beta of macOS Catalina 10.15 indicate that the system acts with great finesse despite being the first beta of a new operating system. In addition, the new applications work correctly, although it is clear that some interface must be polished.

To access this and other developer betas you have to have developed accountr and count on him sufficient profile. From there you have to go to System Preferences and click on Software Update. We do not recommend installing the macOS Catalina beta on the main unit. For this we recommend a partition on your main drive or an external drive.

Among the novelties presented by Catalina, we find the excision of iTunes in the applications of music, podcast and TV. We already have the music and Podcast apps available. Both are very successful and have all the functions available in iTunes. In contrast, we do not have the Apple TV application available that will arrive later. A novelty is the management of devices, such as connected iPods. Now they are managed from the Finder.

Sidecar on macOS Catalina

We also learned about the function Sidecar, which allows you to use an iPad as a second monitor or as a tablet to manage some detail of the interface, such as the occasional retouch of a photograph. There is talk that there may be a Touch Bar in the iPad similar to the one we have in the MacBook Pro. We also have a new function of "Search my Iphone" which in this case can find the Mac, even when it is not connected or with low battery.

This and other functions have to be polished in successive betas, so that we can enjoy all the news from September. For now, we will comment on any relevant news on this page.
