In the last few months, we've seen a lot of turnover in the Human Resources division of the Cupertino-based company, so that we can begin to shape the streaming video division that Apple is working on in order to start offer your own service in the style of Netflix, HBO or Amazon Prime Video.
But that does not mean that Apple is neglecting other departments. The latest move that Apple has made in this regard is found in the new signing that the company has made. Jon McCormack, former technical director of Amazon, has just joined Apple, where he will occupy the position of vice president of software, so he will report to Craig Federighi.
Previously, McCormack was in charge of Amazon's hardware division, eventually becoming vice president of software for Amazon's tablet, Kindle. Before coming to Amazon, McCormack worked with HP and Google. East is the second high-ranking transfer the Cupertino-based company has made in recent weeks, since he had previously signed John Giannandrea, former head of Google searches and also in charge of the Google Artificial Intelligence project. Giannandrea will be in charge of the department of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Both signings do nothing more than confirm the open secret where it is stated that Apple has lagged far behind its rivals, when it was previously known for the quality of its software, a quality that has been declining in recent years and where it is very common to find serious security problems that in another era we could never have imagined. Another proof of the decline of the software division, we find it in the rumors that affirm that iOS 12 and the next version of macOS will not offer us important news, but will focus on improving, what already works, to be able to solve the weak points of its software and thus be able to regain the trust it has lost among a large number of users.
