Apple denies that in 2019 it will eliminate the sale of music on iTunes

Apple flatly denies a growing rumor that they will end iTunes music sales on March 31, 2019. The basis of the rumor is the vague statement made by an Apple Music executive besides the change in the way most people listen to songs.

In the heyday of the iPod, Apple made millions selling individual songs for 99 cents. However, the world has continued to move fast and with it the streaming services are all the rage right now. This makes people wonder how long Apple will continue to sell music on iTunes.

All this is up in the air because we have to bear in mind that Apple has its own streaming service, Apple Music, which this week has reached nothing more and nothing less than forty million subscribers, competing very seriously with its enemy Spotify.

Apple Music executive Jimmy Iovine is the one who has launched the "hot potato" saying that selling songs will not be able to live long alongside Apple Music. In a recent interview, asked when would be the time when Apple would stop offering music in this way:

If I'm honest, it's when people stop buying them. It is very simple.

However, this does not mean that it is the end of these rumors and it is that Apple has a habit of denying things until they announce them. As an example we can remember how many times Steve Jobs stated that his company was not working on a phone.

Are you an Apple Music subscriber or do you like to have your own music?

There is still a lot of music that is not available in the Apple Music service but in the iTunes Store for Purchase, as the libraries are unified, the easiest thing is to buy those songs to complete the album, that is something that Spotify still does not allow and I think it is a great advantage. Economically speaking, keeping Apple Music and iTunes at the same time shouldn't make a loss, since they are stored on the same server; in fact, the iOS and Mac App Store also depend on the same iTunes server.
