Apple extends Australia warranty to two years

Apple Care

One of the discussions that has cost more than one complaint to Apple and that we recently read on the net, is the issue of the warranty on the company's products. A few months ago Apple was sued in Italy for the warranty year extra of its Apple Care and is that in Europe Apple says it has a one-year warranty on its products and this is 'not entirely legal' in the old continent, according to European law all technological products must have a two-year warranty for part of the manufacturer.

It seems like in Australia Apple has just extended the warranty time of their Macs and other devices with iOS up to 24 months and this really is one of the most demanded premises by users for Apple products in Europe.

Apple has not commented on the matter about these new warranty times with its products in Australia. As in all countries, Apple only provided a one-year warranty on the entire range of products, but this has just changed and now the company gives in to pressure from consumer rights and will apply a 24-month warranty on its products.

It is curious, but in Australia there is no standard that regulates the warranty time in this type of products, what the country's law simply says is that it must cover a 'reasonable' period of time but does not say how much exactly. It further specifies that if the product is very expensive it has a longer warranty time than other cheaper ones. Curious at least this whole case.

Let's hope that Apple begins to look well in all the countries with which it is 'not complying with the law' of the consumer and once and for all clarifies the whole issue of the guarantees of its products in the countries that by law, have to have two years. On some occasion 'network fatigue colleagues' had problems with their devices after the official warranty year and apple took over, but it would not hurt to get us out of doubt with the issue and apply the two mandatory plus one of Apple care if we want.

Until last Friday, users of Apple products in Australia were 'forced' to checkout with the breakdowns of their devices last year and they did not have the Apple Care contracted, this is not like that now.

If Apple wants to operate in Europe, it has to do so under EU law. If they say there is a 2-year warranty, they can't offer you one. This has to change since the only ones harmed are the consumers, what a coincidence.
