Apple patents an interactive 3D holographic display

They often say that "reality is stranger than fiction" and it would not be the first time that great advances and wonders seen in cinema, read in a book or simply imagined in a mind burst into our environment. This is what it intends Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), With your new patent application however, no one has any illusions because I am very afraid that this will not appear in the next iPhone 6.

Apple and its holographic projection.

Imagine a iPhone or  iPad capable of projecting "in the air" or on a glass an image of itself, as when we duplicate our iDevice with AirPlay, and that we can also use and manage through gestures. Yes, like in the movies. Well this is what he has imagined Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), and transformed into a patent application in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (UPSTO).

The system in question would be a "Interactive three-dimensional visualization system" we mean, what we commonly know as a "hologram", a 3D projection equipped with sensors that allow users to interact with the system through gestures.

As they point out in peru.com, the explanation is difficult to understand, at least for an amateur like me: «the image that would be projected would be digital onto a medium, such as a non-linear crystal using infrared rays, and not just a reflection of a physical object. This would allow infrared (invisible) laser light to fuse and convert into something within the visible spectrum. And now, we could see a 3D image (…) the medium is between two parabolic mirrors. After bouncing around a bit, the primary image would emerge through a hole in the upper mirror, creating a hologram«. Complicated huh? 🙂

In any case sure that, just as it will take a long time for this patent to become a reality, also from Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), They will know how to make sure that we do not mind not understanding the technical details as they would reduce it to a simple and intuitive operation as they have always done until now. In addition, since Cupertino they have already been experimenting with this technology for years and it is not the first patent on holographic projections that they present. Nor can we forget the interest that lately is showing in 3D such as that patent filed to create 3D avatars.
