As the days go by and the media we are taking a look at the changes that Apple did not announce at the event, we are finding interesting news. One of them is found in the 27-inch iMac, a model that, for now, is still available only with Intel processors unlike the new 24-inch iMac.
This model, like the Pro Display XDR allows users to add a nanotextured glass, with an extra cost of 625 euros. This glass reduces reflectivity and glare by offering a matte finish. After the event, Apple has reduced the price of this option by almost 300 euros.
If we take a look at this model, we see how the current price of this option is available for 345 euros, which supposes a reduction of 280 euros. However, the reduction of this special glass continues to cost the same price in Pro Display, an extra cost of 1.000 euros.
In the description of this option Apple states:
Although both standard glass and nano-textured glass in iMac offer very low reflectivity, it is important to assess the environment in which you will be working.
If you can't adjust the ambient light, you have a new matte option with nano-textured glass. Normally, the surface of a matte screen has a coating that scatters light.
However, these layers reduce contrast, in addition to producing haze and flare. The iMac's nanotexture is etched into the glass at the nanometer level, offering excellent image quality that maintains contrast and scatters light to dramatically reduce reflections.
For now, we are still waiting for the rumors of a new high-end iMac to come true. Apple continues to recommend the 27-inch iMac, launched in August last year, as an alternative for professional customers now that the iMac Pro is no longer an option for customers who don't need the Mac Pro.
At the moment, there are no rumors that point to the renewal of the 27-inch iMac range, a renewal that should eliminate the Intel processors to integrate the new Apple Silicon processors, processors that, as we could see in the last event, have also made it to the iPad Pro range.
