Escobar Inc. founded by Roberto de Jesús Escobar Gaviria has sued Apple for a total amount of 2.600 billion dollars. If you are wondering, I will tell you. Yes, Roberto de Jesús is the brother of Pablo Escobar, the most famous drug trafficker who harshly led the Medellín cartel.
The demand of the company founded by Roberto in 1984 to manage the businesses of his brother Pablo, is based on the fact that vulnerability found in FaceTime can be a breach of contract on the part of Apple that has always prided itself that its devices and software are based on privacy and security.
The demand may sound strange, because presumably if a company advertises something, it assumes some flexibility in those advertisements. But the plaintiff alleges that he acquired an iPhone X because of the alleged security it boasts and at the time that software failure occurs, privacy and security are compromised.
He bought an iPhone X because he was told it was the "safest phone on the market" and that it would not be subject to vulnerabilities in the future. In fact, Roberto alleges that as a result of that failure, he began to receive unknown calls through FaceTime and he even received a letter with death threats at the beginning of 2019.
It is claimed in the lawsuit that Apple is guilty of "Breach of contract", "Negligence" and "Non-pecuniary damage." He values these, respectively, at $ 100 million, $ 500 million, and $ 2.000 billion. The sum makes a total of 2.600 million. The fact is that the claim has been accepted and now Apple has 30 days to reply to the accusations.
This is not the first time that we have seen Roberto sue a large company. He already did when Netflix launched the series based on the life of his brother and rit claimed 1.000 million in copyright.
