New LG UltraWide 5k monitor with Thunderbolt 3 goes on sale shortly

We are getting used to receiving updates in the product presentation Keynote, and these do not go on sale for several months. This is the case of LG UltraWide 5k monitor with Thunderbolt 3, which was presented at CES 2018 last January.

It is a high-end monitor, designed for video editing due to its elongated shape. This format is ideal for viewing the result of a film-format video editing on full screen, but it also allows you to have several scenes on a single monitor, without having second monitors. In addition, its design never ceases to amaze us.

So far the only thing we know is that it will be commercialized soon, but we have no further details., even going to the page manufacturer. LG's model is known as 34WK95U. It has a dimension of 34 inches, as measured diagonally. His resolution is 5k, with 5120 x 2160 resolution.

The model reminds us of its 4k and 5k predecessor that came out with the 2016 MacBook Pro, and that initially gave some kind of problem when they were near the Router, due to the isolation of the screen. This incident was quickly resolved. The main difference is the 21/9 length UltraWide screen.

On the inside, we have a Display panel HDR 600 with Nano IPS certification. This gives a maximum brightness of 600 cd / mXNUMX, comparable to LG's high-end displays.

The monitor has a Thunderbolt 3 connection, making it fully compatible with new Apple equipment. In addition, the connection between the monitor and the Mac offers enough power to charge the Mac. This means that a only cable will allow us to connect our MacBook Pro to the monitor, and it will not be necessary to use another Thunderbolt 3 port for charging, reserving it for other accessories.

It is unknown if Apple will market the 34WK95U monitors on its website, as Apple's main partner, or if we must go to the LG website or distributor if we want to buy one. In Soy de Mac We will keep you informed about it.

A monitor with a resolution of 2160 is not 5k it is 4K. To be 5k it must have a resolution like that of iMac (2880)
