OneDrive extends the maximum size of the files that we can upload to 250 GB for the 50 GB of iCloud

OneDrive

During this pandemic, many have been the digital services that many users have started to use regularly due to teleworking, such as video calls, collaborative work through the cloud, task management / distribution applications ... If we talk about cloud storage services, we need to talk about the upload limits offered to us.

The current limit of the maximum size of the files that we can upload to iCloud is 50GB, as long as we have enough contracted space. If you work with large files, such as videos, CAD files, 3D modeling files ... it is likely that iCloud limit is a problem to do your job.

OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud storage service, a service that just announced that expands the maximum size of files we can upload to the platform up to 250 GB. So far, the limit was 100 GB, double what Apple offers us through iCloud.

The decision that Microsoft has taken is motivated by the change that has occurred in the way of working due to the coronavirus for which many users are being forced to work from their homes. When these are forced to share large files, such as videos in 4K or 8K format, 3D models, CAD files or large sets of files with other co-workers, companies, clients, colleagues ...

Microsoft affirms this new limit it is not limited only to companies and educational centers, but it is available to all users who have contracted space in iCloud. The company states that they have managed to increase the upload limit by dividing each file into parts, all of them encrypted with a unique key.

In addition, the synchronization of large files has been optimized with the help of differential synchronization that sonly upload the changes users make to the file. This new limit for uploading files to OneDrive will be available at the end of the same month.
