Spotify could be retaliating against artists offering exclusives on Apple Music

Apple vs. Spotify

Several months ago a war started between Apple Music and Spotify. The Swedish firm denounced that the Cupertino-based company was repeatedly rejecting the update of its application for iOS devices, since Apple claimed that Spotify wanted to skip the possibility of contracting Spotify from the application, which means that Apple keeps 30% of the amount each month. In fact, the American competition court was about to get into the matter but finally Apple gave the go-ahead to the latest update and Spotify users were able to enjoy the latest application update with its corresponding news.

Apple vs. Spotify

According to Bloomberg, the war between the two companies continues as an artist has published, without citing names, refused to release his new album exclusively on Apple's Beats 1 station, fearing that the Swedish firm would retaliate. The retaliation, as reported by Bloomberg, consists of quickly making the new album or song disappear from the news that reaches Spotify, although on other occasions the case can be worse, since it does not directly appear on this list, with the consequent loss of revenue from reproductions.

If this strategy were true, Spotify would be shooting itself in the foot, since the image that would have before the record companies would be that of a company with mafia techniques. Quickly the Swedish firm has come out to deny this information stating that they are completely false. Just a few days ago Universal Music said that the exclusive system with any streaming music service had ended, since the income that record companies lose are enormous. Will the rest of the record companies join the Universal Music decision? Time will tell, but for now Apple continues to close agreements with independent artists to exclusively release their new albums.
