Production of miniLED panels for iPads Pro and MacBooks begins

Mini LED

A Taiwanese manufacturer is going to start mass production of panels with technology Mini LED for the next iPad Pro, and then for the new MacBook models that will be released this year. A new breakthrough for Apple Silicon.

It was sung. The current range of iPad Pro has been totally out of date, since the brand new fourth-generation iPad Air entered the market last October. They will be the first devices to mount Mini-LED screens, and in the slipstream, the next MacBooks.

DigiTimes just published a report explaining that the Taiwanese company ennorse Production of Mini-LED backlight panels for an upcoming 12,9-inch iPad Pro will begin late in the first quarter of this year. Following them, production of more Mini-LED panels for future MacBooks will begin.

Ennostar is a holding company that was created jointly last month by the manufacturers of LED panels Epistar y Lextar Electronics. They are joining forces to start the production of new panels with Mini-LED technology.

In parallel, Apple is expected to present the new 12,9-inch iPad Pro with Mini-LED backlighting in the first half of this year. Epistar will be the exclusive supplier of the Mini-LED chips that will be packaged in backlight panels by Lextar, the report states. This deadline has been rumored multiple times, with some reports cutting a release down to the first quarter, making it possible for the new iPad Pro to debut in March.

Apple will likely also adopt Mini-LED backlighting for new MacBook models that will be presented in the second half of this year, according to the same report. This is quite in line with yesterday's statements by Apple analyst Mig-Chi Kuo.

Kuo hopes that new models of 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro launches in the second half of 2021 with a new design, the return of an HDMI port and an SD card reader, the removal of the Touch Bar and the classic MagSafe charging with a magnetic power cable.
