The vast majority of production companies will update their content to 4k for the new Apple TV, except Disney

One of the doubts that have arisen in recent days in relation to the content that we will see on Apple TV 4k are the available versions of the titles already purchased. Well in this sense we are in luck, well the vast majority of distributors will offer 4k versions of their films, without the user having to do anything about it. And of course, without affecting your pocket. On the other hand, the price of the highest quality available is maintained, therefore, we will not have to pay more if our equipment is prepared to reproduce 4k. We will have the movies in UHD at the price of HD.

But not everyone is collaborating in the same way with Apple. Apparently, Disney would be the only production company that would be evaluating the change. The news has been known since yesterday, when the logos of all the production companies involved in the transformation were shown in the middle of the keynote:

The logos of most of the major studios were briefly displayed on a screen behind Mr. Cue, including Time Warner Inc's Warner Bros. and Comcast's Universal Pictures… The absence of Apple's list of major studios, which sell movies in UHD it's Disney.

It may seem that Disney does not prioritize increasing quality and therefore does not produce them in that format. But this is not the reason, because Disney sells movies in UHD to VUDU, for example.

To date, Apple's collaboration with Disney is close. Without going any further, in the keynote of the last WWDC 2017, we saw new dials for the Apple Watch. But it is also true that Disney is considering having its own channel, in the style of Netflix, HBO or Apple itself.

Disney's absence is particularly notable given a close, long-standing relationship between the two companies. Disney CEO Robert Iger is on Apple's board of directors, and Disney was the first studio to sell TV shows and movies on iTunes.

When the parties were consulted, at the moment none of them have spoken out so far.
