Today the Mobile World Congress starts a year later

MWC 2021

The wait has been long but finally the Mobile World Congress 2021 opens its doors to visitors and technology companies from around the world. This event was the starting point of a year and a half of harshness due to the pandemic that spread throughout the world and that today continues to strongly affect some countries. In this case, and after pressure from several companies for not attending the Barcelona event, the GSMA with John Hoffman at the helm decided to suspend the congress.

Well, after all this time, finally this great technology event in which, as we all know, Apple is not usually a participant, it starts today and will be active until next Wednesday, June 30. About 700 exhibitors in person and another 300 online they will show their new devices and technologies to the world.

Some of the large companies have been left out of this event but it is not being easy to manage this end of the pandemic. Security measures at the Barcelona event are extreme and a negative COVID-19 test carried out 72 hours before attending the event, the use of the FFP2 mask and a declaration of responsibility signed by the attendees is required.

This MWC 2021 will serve as a test to see how an event of such magnitude is managed that so many people attend. For now, the La Fira venue will fill 1/3 of the usual amount at this congress at this MWC mobile world, so in principle it seems that all companies are being cautious as we saw a few weeks ago with the non-attendance of some of the large technology companies that occupy large spaces in the MWC. Sony, Ericsson, Lenovo, Qualcomm or Samsung are some of them, but the rest will participate in person.

Ultimately we are left with that this is very good news for all of us, whether or not we go to the event, and being able to celebrate events of this caliber is very good. Hopefully everything goes to plan and little by little the end of this pandemic is seen that affects the entire planet.
