Even though the filming of Will Smith's new movie, Emancipation, it started a few months ago, with controversy included, the cast of the film had not yet been completed, since, according to Deadline, this has just been expanded with new players.
The production has taken advantage of a stop in filming to incorporate Steven Ogg, Grant Harvey, Ronnie Gene Blevins, Jabbar Lewiss, Michael Luwoye, Aaron Moten, and Jayson Warner Smith.
Deadline, has also had access to roles that each of the actors will play that have joined the production.
- Steven ogg (Snowpiercer, Westworld) in Confederate Sergeant Howard.
- Grant Harvey (Animal Kingdom, The Crossing) as Confederate soldier Harrington.
- Ronnie Gene Blevins (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Joe) will play Confederate soldier Leeds.
- Jayson warner smith (The Walking Dead, The Birth of a Nation), will be Captain John Lyons
- Jabbar lewis (Amazon's new series The Terminal List, Adventure Force 5), will play an exclave.
- Michael luwoye (The Gifted, Prodigal Son), will also play the role of the slave.
- Aaron Moten (Next, Disjointed) is the slave trader Foster.
The story is inspired by the 1863 photos of "Whipped Peter" that were taken during a Union Army medical examination, images that they helped increase support for an end to slavery.
At the moment there is no official date for the premiere of this new film, especially considering that the cast has just been expanded, so it is likely that until late 2022 or major 2023 let's not see this new Will Smith movie.
