A battery that lasts longer

This morning I got up and when I started to connect the iPhone to charge it something happened that I did not expect, when I connected it to the electricity it turned off. My concern increased when I tried to turn it on and there was no reaction, so I consulted with Apple experts and after prompting me to press the on / off button and the central button at the same time, the apple finally appeared and lit up.
I don't know very well what happened to him, but it may be that firecracker without further ado, what if the boy who helped me over the phone told me was that I had to turn it off at least once a week for a few minutesas it was good for the terminal. I was surprised, since I had no idea about this advice. The truth is that when he told me, I realized that it was logical, since it is almost like a computer that is kept on every day, the chips need rest, I thought.
So I started looking online for more data and came across Apple's recommendations on battery usage and battery calibration.
I leave you the recommendations, which I had a hard time finding, the truth, about the use and maintenance of the iPhone battery.

Just follow some common sense tips and your iPhone battery will thank you by providing you with more autonomy and useful life. The fundamental thing is that you keep your iPhone out of the sun and that you do not leave it in a car where it is hot (not even in the glove compartment), since heat is the greatest enemy of your battery performance.

Some terms you should know

Battery life is the length of time your iPhone can work before needing a recharge. On the other hand, battery life is the total time your battery will last before it needs to be changed.

The ideal temperature for your iPhone. How your iPhone works best is between 0 and 35 ºC.

You should store it in places that are at a temperature between -20 and 45 ºC. However, the ideal is that you store your iPhone, as far as possible, at an ambient temperature of around 22ºC.
Check usage statistics
Knowing how you use your iPhone and how long your battery usually lasts can help you improve its autonomy. Check your iPhone usage statistics by touching the Settings icon on the home page and choosing General> Usage. In the section

Time since the last load you will see two elements:

   * In use: the time your iPhone has been active since the last full charge. Your phone is awake when you call, use email, listen to music, surf the Internet, send and receive text messages, and during certain tasks that run in the background, such as automatic mail checking.
   * Sleep: how long your iPhone has been on since the last full charge, including how long it has been hibernating.

Always have the latest software installed

As engineers are always looking for new ways to improve battery life, it is highly recommended that you verify that your iPhone always has the latest Apple software update installed. You can update it with the latest version of iTunes. Connect the iPhone to the computer and choose iPhone from the list of sources. Check the "Check for update" box in the Summary panel to see if there is a new version of iPhone software. Click Update to install the latest version. If you already have iOS 5 or later on your iPhone, you can update the software wirelessly. Just go to Settings> General> Software Update and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Optimize your settings

Depending on how they are configured, some features can reduce the battery life of your iPhone. For example, both the frequency with which you check your email and the number of email accounts you have can influence the autonomy of your phone. The following tips are for any iPhone with iOS 5 or later, and can help you extend your battery life.

   * Brightness adjustment: you can make the iPhone battery last longer by darkening the screen. Go to Settings> Brightness and move the slider to the left to lower the default brightness level. You can also activate the Automatic Brightness option so that the screen adjusts the brightness according to the lighting at all times. Go to Settings> Brightness and turn on Automatic Brightness.
   * Deactivate the push update option: if you have an account with push update, for example from Yahoo! o Microsoft Exchange, disable this feature when you don't need it. Go to Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendar> Get Data and disable Push. Messages sent to those accounts will be downloaded based on the data collection rate that you have configured and not as they arrive.
   * Receive data less frequently: Some apps, like Mail, can be configured to receive data with a certain frequency. The higher the frequency, the faster the battery will drain. To receive data manually, from the home screen go to Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendar> Get Data and tap Manually. If you need data to download more often, go to Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendar> Get Data and tap Hourly. Do not forget that this setting affects all applications that do not have push data update.
   * Turn off push notifications: Some apps in the App Store use Apple's push notification service to notify you whenever you have new information. Apps that rely heavily on push notifications (such as instant messaging) have a significant impact on battery life. To disable push notifications go to Settings> Notifications and disable notifications for the apps you want. Remember that this does not mean that you stop receiving new data when you open the application. Also, the notification settings are not visible unless you have an application installed that works with push notifications.
   * Reduce the use of geographic location services: apps that use location services a lot, such as Maps, also affect autonomy. To deactivate geolocation services go to Settings> Privacy> Location Services or use these services only when you need them.
   * Use Airplane Mode when you have little or no coverage: as the iPhone always tries to maintain the connection through the mobile network, it will consume more power in areas with little or no coverage. If you activate Airplane Mode, you can increase the battery life in these types of situations. However, you will not be able to make or receive calls. To activate it, go to Settings and check the Airplane Mode option.

Lock your iPhone

It may seem obvious, but it is recommended that you activate the iPhone lock function when you are not using it. You will continue to receive calls and messages even if it is locked, but nothing will happen if you touch the screen. To lock the iPhone screen, press the Sleep / Wake button. You can also set the automatic lock interval so that the iPhone screen turns off after a shorter period of inactivity. To modify the automatic lock, go to Settings> General> Automatic lock and choose a short interval, for example one minute.

Use your iPhone frequently

To keep your lithium-ion battery in good condition, it is important that you help it move its electrons from time to time.

Make sure you complete at least one charge cycle per month (charge the battery to 100% and then fully drain it).

But if you need the battery to last longer than it is, do not hesitate to calibrate it if your device is at least one year old.
Follow these steps when completing the process:

1. Load up 100% battery.
2. Use it normally until it arrives to 0% and turns itself off.
3. Leave it unplugged for at least less 8 hours.
4. After this time has elapsed Plug it in and keep it charging for another 8 hours.

During the charging process we can use it, but it is recommended not to for more accurate calibration.
It is a process that takes time, so I recommend that you do it during a day that you do not need it.
