Add new sports to the Apple Watch Workout app

Apple Watch in the water

The application to measure the performance of a sports activity on the Apple Watch, known as Apple Watch Workout, has predefined up to 10 exercises. It is possible that some of those you practice is not among this list of the 10 most common workouts, such as: Walking, Running, Cycling, Elliptical, Rowing, stair climbing, HIIT, Swimming and wheelchair exercise.

In case of performing a task other than those established, Apple leaves you free space to add the rest. To do this, you must reach the sports option known as Otrto. Up to 60 additional activities appear here. Finding the one you are looking for should not be a problem.

If this is your case, you will be very interested in knowing how a new type of activity is generated, for this:

  1. Firstly, starts the Workout application.
  2. From the crown of the clock, scroll to the back to find the Other option. Select this activity.
  3. Later an activity home screen appears. Next, a screen should appear to perform a new activity, pause it or end exercise. Press finish the exercise.
  4. On the next screen, it allows us to change the name of the exercise. By pressing we can assign the name that best describes the activity.
  5. Then the alphabetical list of the other activities that we can record on the Apple Watch. Press the one that best suits your new exercise.
  6. Lastly, confirm the action.

The advantage of performing this action is that once a training is recorded and you have given it a personalized label, that type of training will appear later on the main Training screen, as a quick start option for the next time you need it.

Apple's task regarding the new exercises is the implementation with biometric sensors of the Apple watch. Weeks ago we learned about the implementation in the Apple Watch series 3 of the measurement of height, speed in snow sports. If your exercise still does not take advantage of all the watch's sensors, it is likely that new updates will be incorporated.
