One of the things that Apple has to work on in future versions of macOS is managing the sound we play on our Mac. Before we had to control iTunes and the playback of a video in Safari. Today we have many applications on our Mac that broadcast music: Spotify, Youtube, apps from: radio, podcast or sound and video editors.
Managing all this from macOS is not an easy task, but Sound Control can give us a hand when selecting which application or applications emit sound, as well as the desired volume. It also has additional functions.
This application in the macOS menu bar, so that it is there when you need it, but on the other hand it just annoys. Being small is not always the right thing to do. Sometimes it is difficult to find the specific application. But this is not a problem for Sound Control, as its image in the form of an equalizer identifies it quickly.
Tras Download the application from the developer page and install it, it is quickly placed in the menu bar. After clicking on it, a menu appears with the main functions of the application:
- First turn the app on or off. This does not close the application, but if you are not managing several sound applications at the same time, it complicates more than it helps, having to adjust the volume of the application and the system at the same time.
- Second, it allows select which sound output we are adjusting. The output of our Mac is not equalized in the same way as an external speaker or connected headphones.
- Third, setting of installed applications in an independent way and it allows us to: silence one or more applications at the same time and adjust the volume of each one independently. On the right, an equalizer is drawn. By pressing we access the personalized equalizer of this application.
- The fourth option is setting keyboard shortcuts.
