More and more televisions are compatible with AirPlay, and little by little more will be added

AirPlay 2

As you probably already know, the popular CES 2019 technology fair has recently started, in which we are seeing a multitude of novelties within this sector, but above all, what the large manufacturers are doing is taking the opportunity to launch new high-end televisions to the market , and this year as a novelty it is quite curious to see the launch of televisions that incorporate Apple's AirPlay technology.

And it was quite surprising to see that the new Samsung Smart TVs were going to incorporate AirPlay, as we mentioned here, and more see how after this LG has joined the ship, and finally we are seeing that other brands like Sony or Vizio are going to do it too, but As Apple has recently made public, it seems that they will not be the only.

AirPlay 2 will be expanding to televisions of other brands little by little

As we have recently learned, little by little more televisions have been added to those compatible with AirPlay to launch content directly from compatible Apple devices without the need for an Apple TV. For this same reason, we have seen how in itself Apple's official website have updated their referral pages to this service, adding that it also works with any Smart TV that is compatible.

And, although it has come a bit by surprise, AirPlay now works in a similar way to how it does with speakers, because If Apple allows a manufacturer to use it with its products, in principle they can do so without problem, and in this way, on the one hand, there will be the possibility of duplicating the screen of a device with iOS or macOS in a simple way, or even all this goes a little further, as it is possible for example ask Siri to play something specific on the TV And you will be able to do it thanks to the integration it has with HomeKit.

In this way, although it is true that at the moment this functionality only works with the most recent models (presented at CES 2019) of televisions from Samsung, LG, Sony and Vizio, it seems that little by little more will be leaving. adding, then in fact they have even opened a section within your website in which the compatible models will be incorporated, as for example they do with the speakers.

    Hello,
One question, the TVs that incorporate Airplay can send the sound even HomePod or other speakers with this technology?
    Good articles.
    Thank you

Hi Luis, first of all thank you very much for your comment. Regarding your question, the truth is that it is not entirely clear, but in principle the answer is negative, since televisions receive content using AirPlay Video, and it would be surprising if they also had the ability to send sound through AirPlay Audio , although as I said at the beginning it is still not sure, because in this case the function is not even active on televisions, it has only been presented. We will see if it can finally be done or not, a greeting 😉
