Amazon already offers a streaming music service with ads in the United States

Amazon Music

A few days ago, we echoed a news story stating that the e-commerce giant Had planned launch this week a streaming music service with ads similar to the one that only Spotify offers us today.

Two days later, those rumors have been fulfilled and for a few hours, Amazon already offers a streaming music service with ads, although at the moment only in the United States. It seems that we will have to wait for this service to expand to more countries in order to test it.

Amazon - Jeff Bezos

Initially this service is only available to all users with an Alexa speaker compatible and it is not necessary at any time to be a Prime subscriber. This new completely free service, although with ads, becomes a new function for all Amazon Alexa speaker users, thus becoming one more reason to buy this device and even if we are not a Prime user.

Both Prime Music, the free music service for Prime users with access to more than 2 million songs, and Amazon Music Unlimited, are still available for all users of these devices, so the rumors that Prime Music could disappear with this new service were fortunately wrong.

Seeing the limitations of this service, it is only available on the company's own Alexa speakers, doesn't look like it's going to become a danger to Spotify's free streaming music service, one of the few, if not the only streaming music service to complement you free with ads. Presumably, this service is currently limited to the United States to test to see how users respond and be able to expand it to more countries.
