An Apple patent shows a revolutionary battery design

The battery is one of the crucial elements in any portable device since allows us greater freedom without having to constantly worry about plugging in the equipment so that it gives us that "extra time" to finish the work we were carrying out.

This in Apple they know and of course they work to improve the autonomy of their teams innovating as they do with the next patent application filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office that we show you below.

This potential patent shows us a fuel cell system designed to allow a MacBook to continue operating without external power "for days or even weeks." The patent was published shortly after a British company was rumored to be working with Apple to successfully fit a fuel cell into an iPhone 6, which could give it an autonomy of approximately one week.

At least for now the patent refers only to "portable computing devices", in the reference diagrams looks specifically a MagSafe connector, giving a clear indication that the device in question is a MacBook.

The downside is that fuel cells have to be replaced once they run out, which could indicate that a system should be considered that would allow them to be changed by the user. The most likely implementation would be a mix of the conventional batteries and fuel cells, allowing the MacBook to be charged on a regular basis, with switching to power the computer when used for excessively long periods.

Personally I hope that this patent will one day become a reality because if the concept of this patent is polished we could finally have truly autonomous teams.
