App Store and Google Play add more than 50.000 million dollars billed this year

Apple Store

Between the two largest stores of digital applications in the world they have invoiced more than 50.000 million dollars this year. A real outrage, considering the low price of the applications and games that fill the catalog of these two digital stores.

I am convinced that the culprit of this significant increase in digital consumption is mainly due to the confinement that we have suffered in recent months due to the happy pandemic of the COVID-19. One of the ways to occupy our free time and that of our children has undoubtedly been apps and games on our iPhones, iPads and Macs.

In a report published by  Tower Sensor, Apple and Android users spent $ 50.100 billion worldwide between the App Store and Google Play Store in the first half of the year, an increase of 23,4% over the previous year.

These consumers spent a total of $ 50.100 billion worldwide on the App Store and Google Play in the first half of 2020, according to preliminary estimates and projections from Sensor Tower Store Intelligence.

This represents 23,4 percent more than the estimated $ 40 billion users spent on both stores during the same period in 2019. Previously, revenue had increased 20 percent between the first half of 2018 and 2019.

The most significant growth this year reflects a trend of higher general spending as a result of the impact of the pandemic of COVID-19 in the global ecosystem of applications.

According to the report, consumer spending on the App Store grew 24,7 percent compared to 2019 reaching the 32 billion dollars in the first half of 2020. Compared to the Google Play Store, App Store expenses were double the revenue of Apple's competitor.

Apple's App Store generated an estimated $ 32 billion worldwide from premium purchases, subscriptions, apps and games in the first half of 2020. This figure is 24,7 percent more year-over-year from the $ 26.300 billion spent during the same period in 2019.

Apple's market spending was almost double of estimated gross revenue on Google Play, which was $ 17.300 billion. That's 21 percent from the first half of 2019, when it was estimated that consumers spent $ 14.300 billion on Google Play.

Sensor Tower points to the pandemic as the reason for the significant increase, as many have been spending on digital products due to social distancing and confinement at home with the whole family for many days.
