Craig Federighi posts a video about the iPad Pro trackpad

Trackpad

Today has been a busy day for those of us who are always aware of the news and current affairs of the Apple world. The company has unannounced new products for sale on its website. MacBooks, Mac minis, and iPads Pro.

Aside from higher processor speeds and storage capabilities, all the spotlight has turned to a new accessory: the keyboard for the new iPad Pro, with trackpad. Since we cannot go to a store to see it, since they are closed due to the coronavirus, Apple has published a video showing us how it works.

Craig FederighiApple's Vice President of Software Engineering shows us in a video how the new keyboard with integrated trackpad works. It was released today as an accessory to the new iPad Pro.

He explains that the new cursor has been designed specifically for iPadOS. The pointer will only appear on the screen when you need it. It will only show when you touch the trackpad. The shape is also special. it is a small dot instead of the typical arrow we are used to.

It will certainly facilitate work when it comes to edit textsas it will be much easier to select, drag and manage blocks of text with the trackpad than with your finger on the screen. It will also become much more bearable spreadsheet editing, and being able to move between cells.

Although there will not be the same set of gestures that we have on MacBook trackpads, it will support some multi-touch gesturessuch as the ability to pinch or zoom. These new features seem tailor-made for Apple's new Magic Keyboard, but third-party accessories and the rest of the iPad range will certainly be able to enjoy them.

These new iPad Pro models and the Magic Keyboard with Trackpad will begin shipping on the 24th of this month. All these new trackpad features will come in the new version of iOS 13.4 which can be downloaded the same day 24.
