Against the clock. This is how Apple and Google are working to launch the application that will help or at least try to stop the spread of coronavirus infections. The two companies are emphasizing the issue of privacy and security. Both companies want this application to be solely to help and not to collect any data from their users. The first beta of this application seems to be very close.
Next week the Apple and Google application could already have its first beta ready to be tested by developers.
An application is never an easy dish to make. If on top of that we bring together the two strongest companies in the sector (and business enemies) to collaborate for a mutual and beneficial goal for all, things can get exponentially complicated. However it seems that reality is stranger than fiction and next week the first beta of the joint application could be available next week.
Both companies have focused on deepening and improving the application's privacy and security issues for users. After being on the lips of all analysts and that some US Senator was interested in the subject, Apple and Google the batteries have been put in.
The system is now known as a technology of "Exposure notification" and not "contact tracing." The changes introduced include an update of the system tracking keys. It will do this by generating safe and random forms to make it difficult to identify people.
The system now it will encrypt the Bluetooth data. This will make it more difficult for specific users to be identified by hackers.
Other new features will include shorter exposure times, Bluetooth signal strength and power level data reporting, and the number of days since the last exposure event to better determine what actions must take the user. The tool will also determine how many days a person has been exposed.
Apple said the software update to enable the system will work on devices released in the last four years.
