HomePod

Apple has launched a new software update for its smart speaker that finally brings the possibility of pairing to achieve stereo sound to this product, voice recognition has been improved, In addition to being compatible with Calendars and with the AirPlay 2 protocol.

It's been a while since those who we have a HomePod we were waiting for the arrival of these software implementations and these aspects are already present in competing brands. The most striking thing is the arrival of the AirPlay 2 protocol, which will allow multiple signals to be sent at the same time as well as allowing stereo pairing.

Apple has released a software update for the HomePod that offers stereo pairing, sound enhancements, AirPlay 2, and compatibility with the Calendar app and Siri. iOS 11.4 includes AirPlay 2 for multi-room audio playback, stereo pair creation with two HomePods, and Calendar support that, for now it is only available in the US, UK, Australia.

HomePod update

The listed novelties implemented in this update are:

● Now we can put two HomePods in the same room and create a stereo pair.
● Each HomePod in a pair automatically detects its location in the room.
● Advanced beamforming provides a wider sound than traditional stereo pair.
● Use AirPlay 2 to play the same song everywhere or different songs in different rooms for multiple HomePods and other AirPlay 2-enabled speakers.
● Schedule, cancel and stay up-to-date with your calendar appointments (available in US, UK, Australia).

You can wait for the HomePod to update automatically or start the update yourself from the Home app. For more details about AirPlay 2 and HomePod Stereo Pairs you can check the Apple's own website.
