Apple continues to solder the memory and the processor in the MacBook Pro 2017

There are things that never change, at least in recent times. For some time now, most companies, including Apple, are choosing to reduce the space of their mobile devices as much as possible, be they smartphones, laptops or tablets, following a market demand that users have not expressed at any time but It goes without saying. To try to improve the portability and size of the devices, the large manufacturers are opting to make use of glue or solder in most of their products, to not only reduce space but also to prevent them from being updated out of reach, in the case of laptops.

The new MacBook Pro 2017, as confirmed by iFixit after disassembling it, is the umpteenth device of the company that reaches the market without expansion options once we have purchased it. This is a problem for the user that you cannot expand on your own once you have bought it if you want to save the high prices that Apple offers us in the different configurations when buying it.

But it is not the only problem, since when it comes to repairing it, the cost of the repair can go out of the box, both for Apple if the device is under warranty and for the end user, if the warranty has ended, which forces a large part of them to contract Apple Care plans if you do not want to be scared in this regard. It is clear that Apple wants us to contract Apple Care if or if with this type of device if we do not want to get scared.

But this is not always the case, since according to my partner Jordi, the new iMac 4K, which has also passed through the hands of iFixit, neither the processor nor the RAM memory is soldered to the board, which will allow users to upgrade the RAM without going through Apple and thus save money. In addition, in case of problems with the processor, the cost of the repair will not be as high as with the MacBook Pro, where, as I have informed you, it is soldered to the board, which makes its replacement impossible.
