Apple has just released the latest update to Mavericks users before OS X Yosemite finally sees the light of day. This latest build is about version 10.9.5, which also includes the version of Safari 7.0.6 and which, as we can read, brings reliability fixes of VPN connections and file access from SMB servers.

This OS X Mavericks update comes a month and a half after Apple released the first betas of this update when started in July launching the first beta aimed at developers.

As we have already mentioned before, this maintenance update focuses on providing solutions related to the reliability of the connections in virtual private networks that use USB smart cards as identifiers. Everything regarding the reliability of access to files located on an SMB server has also been improved.

On the other hand, Safari reaches version 7.0.6, this version of Apple's web browser was already released as a separate update in August and includes a patch for a WebKit vulnerability that allows arbitrary code injection when a user visits a malicious website . All Mac users can download OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks through the support section of Apple's website in isolation or directly in the updates section of the Mac App Store.

This version of OS X 10.9.5 will probably be the last Mavericks update before the release of OS X Yosemite which expected to appear in October. OS X Yosemite brings several improvements to the operating system, including a fresh look and several new features that improve the integration with iOS.

The truth is that Apple updates are always welcome; even more so considering that Yosemite (yosémiti as they pronounce it) is so close. That shows that they are not resting on their laurels.
