Podcasts have become the new way of consuming content for many users. In iTunes we can find a large number of podcasts related to almost any topic, from technology to sports, through poetry, stories, cinema, TV series… Podcasts are content that users create and post on their platform to share them with all interested users.
According to The New York Times, Apple celebrated a meeting with the seven most influential podcasters in the podcast community, and that are in the top of iTunes downloads. This meeting was held in the Cupertino offices and the main purpose was to know first-hand the concerns and doubts of this community.
According to the newspaper, the first concern expressed by podcasters was the null possibility of being able to obtain income through some type of subscription. Also since there is no way of knowing who the audience of the recordings is, podcasters cannot offer data to potential clients who would like to sponsor their recordings. Apparently these data are only available to the company and for now it still does not share them.
Other problems podcasters face are null sharing possibilities via social media his recordings from iTunes, where we can not find any button to share through social networks. You just have to copy the link and share it manually if we want to reach a larger audience.
Eddy Cue, CEO of iTunes, was not present at the meeting, but the employees who called it, informed Cue of the details of the meeting as a result of which he commented that “we have a lot of people working on podcasting, including engineers, editors and programmers.
