All desks in Apple Park are for standing use; sitting is not healthy

Apple Park desks

From one of the interviews with Apple CEO Tim Cook by the publication 9to5mac, we have been able to know how the employees who are in the recent official headquarters of Cupertino, Apple Park, will work. It looks like, all desks are for standing use.

Un healthier lifestyle. This is what they want to introduce in the recently opened circular-shaped headquarters, Apple Park. At the moment they have not shown what the design of these desks will be, although the type of chair that will accompany these workstations has transcended.

Vitra Apple Park chairs

As discussed, Tim Cook already hinted at something back in 2015, when he commented that the Apple Watch itself warns you when you are sitting too long or doing nothing. And that doctors call the sitting concept "the new cancer". This same concept is what they want to bring to jobs. Apparently, the desks will be made to measure and will have a minimalist mechanism integrated to adjust the height according to the needs. Although the latter is nothing new in the market.

On the other hand, it also seems that the chairs that will accompany these desks will not be the most comfortable on the market. As mentioned, instead of having chosen the model Aeron —The model that big companies usually choose and that those who tend to spend more time in front of the computer surely know—, they have opted for a model with a more minimalist design and, of course, more uncomfortable: it is the Vitra model. In a nutshell: Apple doesn't want its employees to stand or sit all the time; They have sought a balance and want you to rest when they have been standing for a long time but they do not want chairs that invite you to sit more than necessary.
