Apple patents a GoPro-style camera. Will it be a complement for Macs and iDevices?

A new piece of news comes to us from the United States Patent Office and is that after Apple submitted a patent for a kind of camera very similar to the current one GoPro, it's time when you have received approval and, consequently, have a free hand to be able to unleash whatever the Cupertino people may have in a drawer for years.

The adventures of the apple company in the world of cameras began with QuickTake 100 digital camera, a camera that soon evolved to the Model 150 and then the 200 with which finally and after a short time in the market it disappears because Apple sees that it does not have much acceptance.

Now, 21 years after Apple released its QuickTake 100, we get the news that those with the bitten apple have continued to apply for patents for possible products to be put on the market. It is not known if this patent, which describes an all-terrain camera like many models that we can see on the market today and that are intended to be used in extreme conditions and especially to make sports recordings, it will eventually become a real camera that is sold by Apple or not.

In this patent we can see how the elements and their operation are specified, observing the existence of a remote control and a module that captures images. On the other hand, it is specified that it will be able to be placed on any type of surface without the need for accessories or with as few as possible.

What is clear is that the market has reacted to this patent and is that, knowing that currently the market for cameras of this type is led by the GoPro, a camera that in its latest version 4, in the Silver model already has a built-in LCD, the company's shares have suffered. They are down 12%, from $ 56 per share to $ 48.50 per share at an all time low.

We will see if this new camera is going to be a project that sees the light and if it will be implemented in products such as Macs, Apple Watch accessories or even, why not, iDevices.
